The names, the polities and the deeds come from sources you can go and read. Every weapon, every armour plate and every frame of animation is invented, and the game says so.

Tomoe Gozen at the battle of Awazu, in a Japanese print. She is the only fighter on this roster that a surviving artwork depicts in action.
Made around 1750, roughly six hundred years after Tomoe Gozen lived. It is an artist’s depiction, not a portrait, and nothing records what she looked like.
